Security SystemsSolar energy systems can answer your security system power needs independently of the utility grid. When a security application requires a conventional power line to run 300 feet or more, solar power for small electric loads will be cost competitive. Capital Sun offers a completely engineered security package for locations with no land line phone service or 120 volt utility electric power. Powered by solar panels and a battery, our packaged system operates motion, smoke, and heat/fire detectors as well as a wireless cell phone communication link for a totally grid independent security system monitored by a central station.
The Bowieville MansionThe ProblemLocated in Prince George's County, Maryland, this nearly 200-year-old historic building is to be restored to its original state. While the developer collects funds and secures official approvals, the Prince Georges Historical Society has required that a security system be installed to deter unauthorized entry and protect the building. The house sits surrounded by acres of wooded terrain and old tobacco fields, far from any utility power line or phone service. The SolutionCapital Sun was contracted to install a solar energy system to power an alarm system connected to the county police station via cell phone. The system uses numerous passive infrared sensors to detect unauthorized entry in the basement and first floor level, and includes numerous smoke detectors that are strategically located above most fireplaces (10), at the top of stair landings, and in several attic and third-floor locations. The installed cost of the system was eight thousand dollars, including cell line/central monitoring twenty-four hours per day, and first annual contract.
